Company History

Williamson Software was founded in 1990 by Mark Williamson in Buellton California. The company began life with the introduction of the R-PLAN software program. R-PLAN was a DOS program that gave PC users the ability to electronically fill-out the California Vocational Rehabilitation form RB-102. This form was a lengthy four page beast and difficult to slay on the typewriter. Making corrections was almost impossible. With this software, when finished filling-out the form on-screen, the user could simply print-out the entire RB-102, complete with their text.

In those days custom forms software was rare, but Williamson Software mass produced this great program for vocational rehabilitation, and it quickly became the standard for professionals in the Western United States (available on 3.5 and 5.25 in. floppy). Within two years Williamson Software had added many features including spell check, a dozen other requisite forms and changed the product name to C-FORM.

In 1992 the Rehab Unit, based in Sacramento, issued the first ever forms approval code to Williamson Software authorizing their computer generated forms to be of sufficient quality to replace the "official" forms printed by the state of California. This came about as a result of the increasing number of these forms appearing in the vocational rehabilitation system. Ms. Peggy Jones, the Rehab Unit Chief at the time, contacted Williamson Software and an authorization coding system was devised in order to guarantee uniformity and quality in computer generated forms.

In 1993 Williamson Software introduced their second product, THE BILLING PROGRAM. Having begun life in a home-based office the company was growing rapidly and relocated to its first dedicated office in Solvang, California.

THE BILLING PROGRAM was meant to be a follow-up to assist the already satisfied C-FORM customers. For many years vocational rehabilitation professionals had toiled against the onerous, mandatory billing requirements imposed by the stringent workers comp environment. This automated, new software finally afforded them the ability to quickly and easily meet their unique billing requirements. THE BILLING PROGRAM consolidated monthly client billing activities in just a few seconds and printed-out a clear, professional invoice.

In 1994, bursting at the seams, Williamson Software moved into a larger office in downtown Santa Barbara, California.

As the 1990s rolled on Williamson Software was there to provide upgrades to the software they produced and the changing industry they served. At some point in the mid-1990s the State of California stopped printing massive quantities of their forms and began, instead, referring vocational rehabilitation businesses directly to Williamson Software.

In the fall of 1996 the company expanded its product line yet again by embarking upon the creation of a complete front-office medical billing and scheduling software package. This software came to be known as Med-Link Pro and reached maturity and a solid standing in the medical software community by the year 2000.

C-FORM grew into C-FORM Win in 1998 and THE BILLING PROGRAM became BP Win in 1999 with the advent of the year 2000 compliance. In 2004 the C-FORM product line celebrated its 14th birthday with the release of version 8.0 (for complete histories of each of our product lines please visit our Product History page).
